Has anyone experienced any problems after using Fantastico to frequently install and un-install scripts?
I have been using the convenience of Fantastico to eveluate many of the PHP applications, installing and then uninstalling them to make room for the next ones.

After a few months, problems started popping up with scripts not installing properly and configuration errors being reported.

Siteground staff, who are very helpful by the way, tried several things and eventually reset my account. I am now starting to experience the same problems again.

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Hmm...

I have had a little bit of trouble with upgrades...

The last update of phpbb (it came about a month ago - 2.0.15) did not upgrade properly... I just pressed the upgrade link again and everything was fine...

Sometimes, fantastico did not load...

That's all the trouble I've had with it...

Hello,

I myself have never heard of such a problem when installing/uninstalling applications with Fantastico. However, it is possible that somehow fantastico messes with it's data files (they may become too big at a time, and would be a good idea to delete them). Basically, Fantastico is not designed to just install/uninstall scripts all the time. It is designed to easily install the scripts you need. At least I think so...

As for the upgrades from Fantastico, it is a known issue. It is always a good idea to backup everything before doing an upgrade from Fantastico or even by hand...

idk why, i just get paranoid when using fantastico. It's like, i cant see everything that is going on. I prefer to do it by hand.
