I have a photographer client whose website currently processes online orders using Mal's e-commerce. Although VERY simple, it meets her needs well. She receives an email that notifies her of an order, then she logs in, retrieves the order and the credit card info, then processes the order manually as if she'd received a phone or mail order. No payment gateway is used.

I'm going to make some big changes to the site, though, and will be using Joomla or Mambo (together with Gallery2) and would like to integrate OSCommerce or VirtueMart. Which one would be the better option? Is one easier to integrate than the other? And will my client still be able to process the orders manually (her preferred method)? Or will she have to have a gateway to automatically process credit card orders?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
Virtuemart is specially designed for Joomla CMS. I recommend you to use it insted of the osCom. It would be much easier for you to integrate it and administer it with Joomla. You can check our tutorial about How to install Virtuemart component on your Joomla website (http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/joomla/joomla_virtuemart.htm)

I think that the best solution for you it's a CS-Cart shopping cart software (http://cs-cart.com) - very easy to integrate with CMS (Joomla etc)

I highly recommend fastCommerce.com to anyone starting a business. It is a low-cost, high powered e-commerce platform for small business or home based business.
