We needed to integrate our webstore with a brick and mortar one (well, actually, it was a metal building...) so I set up the shop's FileMaker-based POS system to import orders from our osCommmerce webstore's mySQL database. We can also upload product info into the mySQL database, and peek at shopping cart contents.
If anyone out there is using FileMaker Pro, I can give you some guidance on using it to make messing with your store's mySQL database a bit less painful.

Hi Ralph.
Tell me a bit about what you have on the FileMaker side. What I did was make a set of FileMaker tables that mapped to the relevent ones in osCommerce, and set up scripts that used ODBC to import a set of records from osCommerce. Then, with all the data on the FileMaker side of things, some scripts that then created a set of records for a purchase in the POS part of my FileMaker suite.

I have a POS called ShopKeeper that uses a Filemaker Database. What you're describing is exactly what I'd like to do, but don't have the skills to setup the scripts necessary. What could I provide you that would help you ... help me.
Thank you very much for your time.

Assuming that there is no solution available from either the osCommerce forum or from the company that makes ShopKeeper FMP, you're looking at some serious work to connect these two products.
I'm not familiar with ShopKeeper, but in order to do this, either we'd need to be able to get at the underlying tables, or ShopKeeper would need to have the ability to import orders from some sort of data file. In the latter cas, we just need to know what that data file has to look like, and we can create a new FMP file that gets the orders from osC and makes the file for importing.
I've made this sort of intermediary tool before, only then it was with Microsoft Visual Basic and an embedded Access database.
I have a starting point in the file I set up for my problem, but there would be lots to do to make it work with your version of osC and with ShopKeeper. Since I don't have a ShopKeeper license, I probably can't test the import, so it would be a collaborative project.
I am confident that I could create this for you, but I am not in a position where I can afford to do it for free. What's it worth to you to have me help get this thing set up?
