I'm trying to install Wikimedia for my new web site. I'm a newbie to Siteground and to Mediawiki. I'm following the tutorial which Siteground provide at:

https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/mediawiki/mediawiki_installation.htm

I'm installing mediawiki 1.8.2.

Now I've followed the tutorial. I've set up the database, added a user name to the database. Now next it asks me to (and I quote):

"Open www.yourdomain.com/MediawikiDirectory/ (or without MediawikiDirectory if you have unpacked the files directly in the public_html folder) and press 'setup wiki'."

Now I've looked in my directory and can't find a file named 'setup wiki' or access the information by typing the address.

Maybe I'm being stupid and I'll be the first to hold my hands up if I am. But I can't find it and it's stopped me in my tracks. I'd appreciate any help people can give.

I do have a little gripe (and again I may be being stupid). But I look at the forum and I see Siteground are so good at customer support etc. etc. Now I've had a look at the support pages and it's not clear to me at all how to get in touch with customer support directly about this. I go round and round looking at tutorials and the like. Now all I want to ask is a few simple questions and get a few simple answers and I can't find where to contact them. I've got the support@siteground.com email address from the emails, but will it get looked at quickly? I just don't know, an email form on the support area would be great.

Hello James :)

First of all, let me thank you for explaining your issue so clearly.

Actually, you will have to access your MediaWiki, after unpacked it in the desired directory, through a browser and follow the steps of the installation.

However, if you want, you can go to your Customer's area at:

http://www.siteground.com/customer_login.htm

There you can click on the Get Support button and then choose the Help Desk button. There you will find the link named Script installation. Click on it and when the page loads you will see a link named "Script installation" with a button "GO" next to it. Click the GO button and you will be able to post a ticket to our Support Team that will gladly assist you in installing MediaWiki :)

Thanks Brandon for the quick reply.

I can't see the "Go" button and I've used 2 different browers. I'll try to look in work tomorrow, but I've never experienced a problem so fundamental as this.

I've tried to access the "wiki" directory iIve insatalled, through a browser and that doesn't work for me either, at the moment

I'll install it again and see if that helps.

Thanks Brandon for all your help. A case of newbie fever, a matter of getting used to the navigation (and lack of sleep!). I'm afraid It won't be the last time I'll be calling on you. Once again thanks for your help.
