Permissions cannot be changed

Hello, I submitted a support ticket but don't know when that will be answered. I upgraded an app this morning and that was not successful so I restored the backup. Now i'm unable to change any of the permissions on my folders. I can make the change but the change is not saved, whether I chmod from wsftp or from the cpanel. The permissions keep reverting back to something else, and now I have an ugly pink bar at the top of all my pages saying there is a security breach because permissions haven't been chmoded correctly.

I know this has GOT to be something simple but can someone please point me to this problem. Thank you

Actually, the cPanel always displays the default permissions value in the edit permissions box. However, you can check out the current permissions of a file, by listing the content of the folder, in which the file is contained. On the right, just across the file, the current permissions will be displayed. The correct permissions of the shopping carts' configuration files are 444 (though 644 will also work).
