Hello,
I assume that you are trying to send/receive your mail with Outlook Expess or Mozilla Thunderbird, as they are the most famous and used mail clients.
So, please make sure that you've set them up in this way:
The setup of Outlook Express must be done in the following steps:
Step 1: Open Outlook, and click on the Tools menu. Select Accounts.
Step 2: Click Add account and select Mail.
Step 3: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of all outgoing mail.
Step 4: Enter the email address which the others will use to send email messages to you.
Step 5: Incoming mail server (POP3 server): yourdomain.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP server): yourdomain.com
Step 6: Username: please use the full e-mail account name. Example: you@yourdomain.com instead of you.
Password: ***********
Step 7: Click Finish.
Step 8: Now click once on the newly created account, and choose Properties. Go to the Servers tab and check My server requires authentication. Please do not use secure authentication as we do not support this method.
If you want the messages to be kept on the server, choose the Advanced tab and check Leave a copy of messages on server, click OK.
Step 9: You are done!
Please make sure that you check your incoming e-mail messages before trying to send any. Our servers use the POP-before-SMTP scheme, which disallows sending messages without checking your mail.
As for the Mozilla Thunderbird setup, it must be done the following way:
Step 1: Open Thunderbird and select the Tools menu. Click the Account Settings tab
Step 2. From the new window select the Add Account button, then E-mail account and click Next.
Step 3: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From: field of all outgoing mail and the email address which the others will use to send email messages to you. Click Next.
Step 4: Please set the incoming server to be of type POP. Address is yourdomain.com
Step 5: Click Next and type in the username. Please use the full e-mail account name. Example: you@yourdomain.com instead of you.
Step 6: After clicking the Next button, please type in the name of the e-mail account as it will appear on your PC. Click Next, and then the Finish button.
Step 7: Click the Outgoing Server(SMTP) in the left pane. Use yourdomain.com as Server name set the port to be 25.
Then, check Use name and password and enter the full e-mail address as username. Select No in the Use secure connection section.
Step 8: Click OK and you are done!
Please make sure again, that you check your incoming e-mail messages before trying to send any. Our servers use the POP-before-SMTP scheme, which disallows sending messages without checking your mail.
Once you set your mail client following the steps above you will be able to send/receive email properly.
Please try to reconfigure your email client and give us your feedback.

Hello,
So, I'd advise you to change your email password from your cPanel, which is located at:
http://your-domain-name.com/cpanel
Use the same credentials that you use for your Customer's Area with us.
There click on the Mail icon. When the page loads click on the Manage/Add/Remove accounts link and it will forward you to the Mail Configuration Center.
There you select the account which password must be changed, click Change password and enter new password.
Enter the new password in your Outlook and it if still a problem persist, please write back to us.

Hello all,
I recently switched to SG but am finding that my pop e-mail checking is much slower. My outlook checks but takes much longer than it did with my previous host and sometimes even times out.
Does it have anything to do with the following writte by Brandon?
Hello,

And if so, where can we change these settings in Outlook? I can't find them.

Go to Tools - Accounts, choose the Mail tab, select your e-mail account and click on the properties button. On the new dialog window select the Servers tab, and check "My Server requires authentication". This will allow you to send messages without using the "POP3 before SMTP" auth method.
Or, you can simply click on the "Send/Receive" button arrow, and select "Receive All" before trying to send any mails.
Also, verify that the username is your entire e-mail address, like "you@domain.com", and you are using the correct password for this mailbox, as defined in cPanel -> Mail.

Like the original poster, I am able to send email, but unable to receive.
I have recently transferred to SiteGround and my URL is registered and still owned by 123reg.co.uk
I have changed the MX record at 123 reg and have waited five days, but mail is still returned with the following message:
"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Unable to deliver message to the following recipients, due to being unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server.
admin@illustratedphotography.com
administrator@Illustratedphotography.com"
Mail sent from administrator@Illustratedphotography.com using squirrel mail reaches its destination though.
In a related issue, I am also not able to reach my site without the www. prefix.
Is there something wrong in the way I am redirecting, or is there something I should be doing which I'm not?
My site's URL is http://www.illustratedphotography.com
I am not trying to set up Outlook, I will be quite happy using squirrel mail or any other client.

Does anybody have an idea about what I can do?
Help will be appreciated.

What redirection are you doing? Are you redirecting people who went to your site without the www to the site with www?
For the email, did you want your email at 123reg to come to siteground, or did you want siteground's email to go to 123reg? If you wanted siteground's email to go to 123reg I'm pretty sure that you need to change the MX record at siteground, not 123reg. Also, be sure to put your domain after your username when you login to mail (e.g. "user@example.com" not just "user").
i need help please. i have always wanted to ask question in this forum, though i'm a new member, there is no clue to me how i can contribute. On clicking the new post link, it doesn't show any feature or link to post my message. That is why i have used this medium "quick reply if somebody can just instruct on this please.

Floft:
I am trying to redirect my mail from 123Reg to SiteGround.
MX settings have been changed at 123Reg, but I am still not receiving my email.
This is a mystery, any ideas?

Hello,
Manamark, the domain name you are using is not pointed to our servers. This is why you are not able to receive email messages @illustratedphotography.com and you cannot access it without the www prefix.
I can see that the www.illustratedphotography.com A record is set to point to your shared server with SiteGround but this gives you only the possibility to access your web site via http://www.illustratedphotography.com.
Currently there is NO valid MX record for illustratedphotography.com on your previous host nor A record for it.
In order to be able to receive emails as well as access your web site without the www prefix the easiest way will be to point the name servers for your account to:
ns1.siteground213.com
ns2.siteground213.com
The DNS zone on our end is already properly created and this will solve all issues you are experiencing.

Martin, I missed that trick, thank you.
I did not realise I had to change the nameservers as well.
I have now updated that, and will test it in 48hrs.
Thanks for your prompt advice.

Might as well hijack this thread so we can keep it all in one spot.
I selected the option in outlook to delete emails from server after removing them from my "deleted" items folder but it is not doing as it should be.
Any suggestions?
