Hi all
I am using Advanced Guestbook 2.3.3 on my site and it is being spammed with links to dubious content. I have put "html" and "www" and a few other terms in the censor list hoping it would prevent the links from displaying and whoever was posting them would give up, but they conti=inue to post links.
Is there any other way of stopping this? These posts are all coming from diffferent IP addresses.
TIA
Tom

For anyone experiencing the same problems as myself with their advanced guestbook being spammed here is a link to a modification to defeat bots from spamming it. It adds a human verification question to the addentry page.

I have just implemented it so I'm not sure how successful it will be.

I am experiencing the same problem with bots infiltrating my discussion board.
I tried CAPTCHA, but I am using Frontpage 2003 and you have to turn off extentions for it to work. Your link is broken or has exspired. Do you or anyone have a workable solution for a neophyte website developer like myself?

I had the same problem with my guest book and finally just deleted it. Let us know how the mod works. As for spam on a phpbb message board the best solution I found was to activate members through the admin panel. I normally get 100 spammers for every 1 legitamet (sp) new member. Alot of the spammers you get are not bots but actuall people that is why they can get past captcha. Most of the spammers I get are from foreign countries normally Africa. I now have a very long list of banned ip addresses.
