No, you can NOT remove the copyright notice. Please read the siteground TOS for further infomation.
http://www.siteground.com/terms.htm
That is correct Collin. The templates are copyrighted the extra links should not be removed because this will violate the copyrights we have.

Hi!
I use Siteground 41 as free template. Its great and im very happy with it. So its GNU GPL so i changed differnet things. Like i deletet the "LEFT"- modul position, to have more space for the content. Now your LOGO (i know that its not allowed to remove it) is "hanging in the air" outside the template.
Now my question:
Can i change the position of the Logo, like put in under the footer, or under the Menu or on an other place where it can be seen and ist not hanging around outside the page?
(excuse my bad english, im not a native speaker)

Hi
I agree with with Colin when he said in an earlier thread that it is respect to keep the link back to Siteground (as well as this being part of T&C).
Maybe it would be a good idea for the admin to make a sticky thread on this issue, as this topic does seem to come up time and again.
Best Regards

This is a quite good idea:) I have just set this thread as sticky and I hope more people will refer to it further.
Thanks a ton for it.

Hi!

I too would like to know if it is possible to simply move the position as I have one wrapper
page that needs the entire space - is this possible?
Thank you.

Hi Atomic
I'm sure Siteground will correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I see it, as long as the Copyright remains, that is all that is required.
The best place for it would be in the footer as it will be visible on every page. The Logo is usually hanging somewhere in the left module position but this wont fit every sites design, especially with full width wrappers etc. So I think the removal of the logo is ok as long as the Copyright remains.

Hi Costa
Thanks for the reply.
Any idea where you go to remove or move it as it's not listed in the html of the template
and i've yet to find an module or index that mentions it?

Hi
You should find a file called "templates.php" in public_html/templates/your-chosen-template/
It is 3 minutes past midnight in Spain, so sorry for brief reply :-)

Exactly. It is a matter of a tiny "thank you" for the AMAZING templates they provide. Ill be honest here, I have seen pro templates that cost hundreds of dollars that dont even look as good as the siteground ones. Its just like your car says "Ford" on it. Its just the brand name, its a token of thank you to siteground for giving them for free. All they ask is for a little SEO in reward for their hard work. :D

Bump
Anyone know the answer to removing or moving the right index Logo etc?
Quite happy to have it at the footer, but placed on the right, it causes layout issues for
something I am trying to do.
Thanks

You can change its location, but you cannot completely remove the logo and link located at the right column.

Firstly thanks for such a great plate.
Secondly, can the credit be moved to the bottom of the page as I have a wapper that
needs more space and the credit being on the right, causes a problem with the wrapper.
Many thanks

I'm looking for the same solution. I have a forum in the wrapper that needs the full width and would like to move the copyright from the left column to the bottom of the page.
Thanks in advance

Agree that credit on free templates should remain on the site - but only when the templates work or there is some support to get them to work. I've seen many haphazard websites that have used these templates and judging by the posts on this forum plenty of users have plenty of problems that seem to go unanswered or unresolved, and Siteground do not appear to answer emails.
Personally, if I had a stack of free templates out on the web with my name on them - thus vastly increasing my Google ranking - I want them to work and be a showcase to send visitors back to my site - it's free advertising. But I would not want to advertise something that is dodgey.

Hi Mickey
In my experience, the Siteground templates work fine. I have in some cases had a few minor issues with alignment but we are only talking a pixel or two here or there. And most of these issues are a relatively simple fix and after all said and done are cross browser issues.
I have some sites that after some hard cross browser work, now work well on all browsers. Then come along Google Chrome, for example, and again the sites don't display properly - back to drawing board again!
Let's remember, these templates from Siteground are free and as such are excellent value both for the newbie and as a base for the developer. I have bought templates in the past and those required bug fixes from time to time especially for when IE7 was introduced.
Many issues do goet resolved on the forum and I suspect that many more get resolved through the ticketing system.
I have to say, I have never come across a host that will spend more of its valuable time on helping its customers with non-server related issues.
Not disagreeing with you Mickey but just my opinion from experience with SG.
Best regards

Is there any way to license the free template so that I could remove the copyright?

I like your templates and I'm currently using one and considering using more.
But I don't like the copyright text on every page. Can I not show the siteground text on the page but do use them as comments in the code and pay a little fee?
So normal users wouldn't see anything but if you look at the page code you can see it. I could even add a metatag for it.
This way I can add my own copyright text.
Thanks.

Hello jannes,
Thank you for your feedback regarding our templates. I am afraid, however, that we do not provide paid version of the templates, thus the copyright text and the link to our website cannot be removed. You can review our complete terms of use on the link below:
