It seems I am filing at least one support ticket a day for various things.
Wednesday night - I tried updating WordPress with Fantastico. Clicked the button....it locked up and damaged my site to the point of having to be restored.
Thursday night - Site was totally unresponsive. I was told it was a problem on your end and you were working on it. It did finally come up.
Friday night - Neither WordPress or PHPbb is able to connect to their databases.
Is there something going on I should know about? I am getting rather frustrated.

I will try to answer your questions:

Well, as you might know, the Fantastico is a 3rd party application, which we are not maintaining but just providing to our customers. The Fantastico upgrade option is not a preferable one.
If you wish to have an upgrade, it is always best to do it by hand and not use Fantastico. It might work, but it might destroy the application too, and a restore to be needed. Just keep that in mind for future upgrades.

It is true that we had some problems with the server that hosted your account. A shared hosting server is an overloaded server -- lots of websites -- lots of problems. We try to keep the problems at a minimum, but from time to time something happens.
We have our system admins and support team to react as quick as possible, and our records have shown a decrease in the downtime of all the servers during the last couple of months, by bringing a lot of monitoring tools and providing our support team with higher abilities to track down the problems and resolve them asap.
I cannot say that it will not happen in the future again. For sure it will. Servers are just hardware, with software running on them. If they were flawless, they would not need us to operate at all. But they are not.. and we keep trying to get them to be.
