On the front page of Siteground, there is an add for installing smf when you have a mambo site. Unfortunately, I don`t see any technical specs on how to go about it. Should I simply use Fantastico ? And how do I then further install the com and mods in my existing site ?
Furthermore, Fantastico is suggesting me to upgrade my Mambo 4.5.2 to Joomla. Has anybody out there taken this advice and what is the verdict.
Thanks to anyone of can give me some input here...
Cheers
Robert

I think to install the integrated mambo smf you just need to ask tech support and they'll do it for you. There are currently 2 components that you can choose from to integrate them, both have advantages & disadvantages, this might help: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,20247.0.html I opted for Orstio's bridge but it was quite complicated to install and took me all night - then again I'm not very technical :D
Don't know anything about converting from Mambo to Joomla but I saw a thread about it on the Joomla forums which might help. http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,6332.0.html

Meanwhile I requested Siteground support to change from Mambo to Joomla, which they did (very fast I have to say). I'm very happy that I changed to Joomla. All com and mods are very stable.
Smf is also installed, but now I have to look at the smf-joomla bridge for further integration. Thanks for the link !
