Hello all,

We've been working to move our church's website over to joomla from a Frontpage created site. I've created a temporary domain and have a team of volunteers moving articles over. But I'm running into a problem (besides the fact that I don't know much about joomla!).

It seems that something's not configured properly because although the front page looks fine on any template we select, the subsequent pages appear to loose all formatting, including CSS and graphics. Then, when you click on any other links, it appears to add extra "index.php" notations in the URL.

For example, if you go to the main site and click on a link you'll get a page with menus and text that's not formatted according to the template. Then, if you click to go back home you'll get something like this:

http://ccistream.org/index.php/index.php/index.php/

And again, it will be messed up. The home site is http://ccistream.org/ but I can't seem to get any templates to work properly.

I'm sure you'll need more information to help me figure this out, but I don't know what else to give you so I'm ready to answer any questions. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Nathan

I haven't figured out how to fix it, but I have found out why it's happening. Basically in the Global Configuration the SEO Settings don't appear to be working correctly. The "Search Engine Friendly URLs" was set to "Yes" but "Use Apache mod_rewrite" was set to "No". When I set the first option to "No" everything works ok. I don't know enough about Siteground to know if it runs Apache or not. Can anyone tell me? Do I need to turn mod_rewrite on? I don't want to break anything.

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

Our servers run Apache with mod_rewrite enabled :)

A possible solution for your issue can be found in this article (http://kb.siteground.com/article/Search_Engine_Friendly_URLs_in_Joomla_15_with_PHP_ 52.html).

If the problem persists, please post a support ticket and explain the issue in details. Then we'll do our best to resolve it :)

Thank you! This fixed it! Somehow I had missed the htaccess file needing to be renamed. Is it ok to check the "Add suffix to URLs" option as well? Thanks again for the help - it's working fine!

Sincerely,
Nathan
