I've got 2 sites hosted in 2 different hosting plans from siteground.
Love the hosting, I now saw you can hold uo tp 5 different domains inside your own hosting.
My hubby has a little diving site, for the local dive school, nothig fancy and they pay loads for hosting. Not much visitors, just a little hobby of him with my help.
So if I understand correct I can order a addon slot, redirect their domainname to the nameservers from SG and have them in one of MINE allready excisted hosting here at SG right?
Would that be legal?
just wondering.....

You can certainly do that and it's perfectly legal. The addon slot costs $30/year. And you only need to change the DNS of the domain of the diving site. Your site and the addon site will then share all the account resources (space, traffic, databases, etc) :)

That's cool thank you for explaining, I'm gonna ask the diving club if they prefer that ;)

Hello;
I recently purchased 3 Addon Slots for my siteground account. I am going to setup 3 more independent websites with an unique domain for each website. Has anybody seen any instructions on how to do this? I have not seen any tutorials or posts on setting up and creating a Addon Domain. I have already paid the $30 for each Addon Slot.
Thanks
D

Unfortunately we have not included any tutorials regarding addon domains, yet. However you may simply contact our Tech Support Team via the ticketing system and they will set the addons for you in no time. :)
In fact setting up an addon domain is quite an easy job. All you need to do is to login to your cPanel and proceed to the "Addon Domains" icon. There you will be able to add the domain names for the new websites. You should do this in the field, right next to "New Domain Name". It is very important to define a name of the directory where your new website will be placed. (This directory will be the location for the addon domain's files, just as public_html is the location for your domain's files). After this is done, you should type a password for the new addon domain. The last step is to press the button "Add Domain" and once this is done, you will be all set. :)
Please note that you will not be able to set up the addon domain in case you have not registered the domains you are going to use for the new websites. If they are already registered but not hosted with us, you should point them to the server hosting your account. After this is done, the addon domain should be working just fine.
In any case if you experience any problems doing this yourself, feel free to contact you Tech Team. ;)

According to the help I received from support, you have to use SG's DNS servers for Addon Domains - something to keep in mind, if you have problems with the Addon Domains.

I want to utilize the addon domain feature. I wanted to know before I signed up if each website has separate access to cPanel to maintain their own email, ftp, databases ect .. ?

If you have an addon domain feature and host another domain, means that you host two websites under the same account. As each account has only one control panel, you will not have access to another cPanel. However, there will be no problem to manage the 2 websites from one and the same place. I believe it would be easier, even.
With the addon domain, you will be able to upload your new website at whatever directory you want as well as create unlimited number of email and ftp accounts, and databases.

My angle with this was to sell hosting accounts. I did not want to have to manage all of the space I sold. Not only that, but if I bought some web space, I would kinda want to have the control .. i'm sure most people would agree.
When I read that it was only $30 a year, it was almost too good to be true .. I was right.
What would stop me from simply creating this setup via various means and methods already available and not paying you $30 a year for something that I alread own? I can think of several ways around ..
Could you shed some light on exactly what I would be getting for $30 a year .. a DNS entry?

Hello h82bsogood,
I fully understand your point. The addon domain is not the best solution for people who would like to resell hosting services, but for people that would like to host few small websites and do not want to pay for a whole new account.
For resellers we have created a special Reseller Program that you can review here (http://www.siteground.com/reseller_hosting.htm)
