I am pretty much finished with my site but it's loading slow. I visited: http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/index.html and it came back with the following results.

# - Congratulations, the total number of HTML files on this page (including the main HTML file) is 1 which most browsers can multithread. Minimizing HTTP requests is key for web site optimization.

# TOTAL_OBJECTS - Warning! The total number of objects on this page is 29 - consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your external objects. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.

# TOTAL_IMAGES - Warning! The total number of images on this page is 20 , consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your graphics. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.

# TOTAL_CSS - Caution. The total number of external CSS files on this page is 3 , consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your external CSS files. Ideally you should have one (or even embed CSS for high-traffic pages) on your pages.

# TOTAL_SIZE - Warning! The total size of this page is 206134 bytes, which will load in 46.88 seconds on a 56Kbps modem. Consider reducing total page size to less than 30K to achieve sub eight second response times on 56K connections. Pages over 100K exceed most attention thresholds at 56Kbps, even with feedback. Consider contacting us about our optimization services.

# TOTAL_SCRIPT - Caution. The total number of external script files on this page is 5 , consider reducing this to one or two. Combine, refine, and optimize your external script files. Ideally you should have one (or even embed scripts for high-traffic pages) on your pages.

# HTML_SIZE - Congratulations, the total size of this HTML file is 4409 bytes, which less than 20K. Assuming that you specify the HEIGHT and WIDTH of your images, this size allows your page to display content in well under 8 seconds, the average time users are willing to wait for a page to display without feedback.

# IMAGES_SIZE - Warning! The total size of your images is 62188 bytes, which is over 30K. Consider optimizing your images for size, combining them, and replacing graphic rollovers with CSS.

# SCRIPT_SIZE - Warning! The total size of external your scripts is 124154 bytes, which is over 8K. Consider optimizing your scripts for size, combining them, and using compression where appropriate for any scripts placed in the HEAD of your documents.

# CSS_SIZE - Warning! The total size of your external CSS is 15383 bytes, which is over 8K. Consider optimizing your CSS for size by eliminating whitespace, using shorthand notation, and combining multiple CSS files where appropriate.

# MULTIM_SIZE - Congratulations, the total size of all your external multimedia files is 0 bytes, which is less than 4K.

Some of the things I realize siteground has nothing to do with, like mootools, content editor js and so forth. But is it possible to combine the js file and reduce the template ccs code and reduce the number of images somehow?

Best Regards

Hi

Firstly I would make sure your images are optimised as much as you can without losing quality. Obviously with Joomla it is difficult to reduce the number of objects/files etc.

Without seeing your website, are all 20 of your images necassary on the front page?

Just a suggestion

I have just read all through the review.

Indeed this site has done a nice review as a matter of points. It has given also great directions how you could further optimize your site.

However, I do believe those errors are exaggerated.

Since you have not provided us with the website URL we are unable to tell you more at this point.

The most important should be to reduce / optimize the images. Have in mind that if you reduce their quality to 80%, the eye visible quality will not change but the size will improve a lot.

Just out of curiosity, I have just submitted a url to the mentioned site. The url had a fresh install 1.5 joomla and it came up worse than yours with many warnings on image size, image quantity etc etc etc.....

So I wouldn't be too concerned about the results

is it always loading slow or just when you have not used it for a while ?
