I purchased secondary domain name with siteground. I was trying to get it to point to a another file than the primary site..

You can do that requesting a change in your DNS records. Your domain name can be pointed to another hosting server, different from the one, on which your account resides.
You can also have your secondary domain as a parked domain pointing to the same content of your primary domain. There is even another option for your domain name to point to a content different from the one of your primary domain. This option is to order an Addon Slot. With this option you can host as much as five sites (the maximum number of addon slots you can order) on your hosting account. They will be put into subdirectories in your public_html and thus will have different content from the one of your primary domain name.
