We are about to create a new website with a Joomla template, but want to keep our old site up and running while we work on the new joomla website.

My question is, where do we keep the new site? If we put in the public root, our old site will not run. But will we be able to have access to joomla if we create a test folder and work on it there.

What is the best way to create and test our joomla site before we are ready to launch it live?

Thanks

Move the old Joomla! out of the public_html directory, into a sub folder called /old

Before doing so, update in the Joomla! ACP the upload path and site path, to reflect the new subfolder.

Hi,

Well, you can simply install the new Joomla under a subdirectory and you will have your current one properly working in the root of your domain during the developing process of your new one.

Your visitors will be able to access your old website at your domain name and you will be able to develop your new website under the subdirectory.

If this is not suitable for you, you can simply post a support ticket with detail information what exactly you would like to achieve and we will be glad to set it for you.

Regards.
