Smile Joomla 1.5 Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template - Expand Template Width

    Hi Group

I am a newbee using the Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template for Joomla 1.5. It is a nice template, however I would like to expand the width of the template to cover the browser (iexplorer 8.0). I am brand new to code so if you have a fix please give a detailed explanation.

    Thank you

This is generally done by editing the template CSS. Please note however that it is not very easy task.

The modification that needs to be made are not much but the exact values should be carefully adjusted in order for the template to look good.

As it is designed it consists of several blocks that put the template together. The template itself has a fixed width. It is not percentage based. All elements of the template should be altered in order to achieve what you asked.

If you want to make such modifications I would advise you:

First to check the CSS basics tutorial

Once you are familiar with the basics try altering the CSS for your Joomla template and play a bit with it. The CSS in Joomla can be altered via the admin area -> Modules -> Template Manager -> Edit -> Edit CSS.

    Hi Martin

Thank you so much for your reponse. Since I have posted the original message, I have become quite proficient in Joomla and template modification. However, for the Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template, I have tried modifying both the template and style css files using various combinations with no success. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to expand the width of this specific template. I was able to accomplish this task very easy with other templates. Although I really liked the Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template, I eventually had to abandon it due to time constraints. In the end, I designed my own template, which proved to be quicker than trying to figure out Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template. However, I still like the Siteground j15-59 Business Green Template. If you have any detailed suggestions on what code to use to modify it to expand and retract as the browser size is change accordingly, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

    Hello CoralPlanet,

Our free Joomla templates are provided as they are and we have no tutorial explaining how can one re-design the layout from a fixed one to a wide one. Therefore if you find the process difficult, we advise you to contact a professional website designer / developer with sufficient knowledge in the template system of Joomla, which possesses the required skills to provide you with the necessary level of assistance.
    Best Regards,
