I have a question about filezilla. If you enter the info into site manager but donot do anything else If you never connect is there a security risk? I know there are risks with ftp, but isnt that only when a connection was established? thanks

If you don't connect then there can be no risk other than the information being stored in your computer, and someone getting into your computer and retrieving the password. This is an extremely unlikely scenario however.
Basically yes, your password cannot be retrieved, and even if you do connect to the Internet via FTP I can't think how someone would be able to gather your password easily (it is possible but it wouldn't be easy).

You also need to trust anyone using your computer (if there is any) but as mastershu said, getting you password stolen is very unlikely even if you do connect to the server.

FTP clients are safe to use...but never save info on them. N recommended that turn off antivirus and then upload files through FTP client.

Yes, FTP clients are safe to use, especially filezilla, the only security measure is to not let the accesses saved
