Article options not responding for Joomla 2.5

Hi everyone, ...sorry I'm back again. I'm trying to implement a basic Joomla site with their 2.5 download. I have several articles listed on the landing page but they all come up showing Category.., Published on.. and Written by.., I went into the Article Manager and clicked to edit an individual article; using the drop down menu there for "Article Options" I chose "hide" for the above items, Category, Published,,etc. then saved the edit page. But, on the landing page, when the Article title is clicked it still keeps displaying the Category, Published on, Written by information. I want to get rid of this info when it is displayed on the landing page.
