Siteground j16-32 submenus not working

Submenus are not dropping down. I have enabled this feature and set up submenus but they are hidden on hover.

I am afraid that this template was not designed to support drop-down menus but only a single line of menu items.

i have a similar issue on j16-20 - i assume its a css overflow issue? but cant see where it is (ive done a bit of styling already so am happy to add in the css manually if necessary)
