[SOLVED] sg Joomla 1.5 template v1.0.14: fluid width does not work
Dear all,
I am using sg Joomla 1.5 template v1.0.14 with the nice control panel in the top right corner. I am able to change the width to small or medium size, but when selecting fluid it looks almost the same as the medium setting. It just gets a little bit wider but only a very few pixels. Shouldn't the website use my full TFT width of 1680 pixel ? I still have the centered website and very large empty and unused borders on the left and on the right of the website. Is that the normal behavior when selecting fluid ?
Best regards from Germany,
Irene

Looking for help too!
I have the same problem, bar not having the control panel on the site.
I am using siteground-j15-42 template and I love this template.
I am developing a web site for my local fishing club, however trying to get this theme in true fluid form so as fit a full monitor, not just in the max 920px.
The reason i am trying to get a bigger centre content is I am trying to join my SMF forum, and with it not full fluid it is choking my forum. It is also chocking my gallery.
If i change back to Milkyway and go to fluid, works great, goes full size.
My monitor is at 1680px wide at the moment and alot of members want this to fit full size.
Any help would be great.

I am a bit confused as to which template you are using. You say you are using Joomla 1.5 template v1.0.14. The V1.0.14 sounds like an version of Joomla and not a template.
If you are using a Joomla V 1.x.xx template with Joomla V 1.5.x, you may run into problems.
Try enabling legacy mode
Hope this is of help

As stated by the post both of us r using Joomla! v1.5.x .
Me , im using 1.5.5 and the person above is using 1.5.3
We are both experiencing problems getting fluid working properly and are both trying to get full width of our templates.
Have a look at my web page www.pbafishing.com/joomla and you will see that it is not full width(fluid).

The template is called "sg - Joomla 1.5 Joomla15 template" and the template itself (which is for Joomla version 1.5) has the version 1.0.14. This can be seen if you open the file templateDetails.xml. Creation date 21/09/07.
The download URL is: http://www.siteground.com/template_middle.htm?tid=186 .
I tried legacy mode but that has nothing to do with the problem.

Nitroroach, on your web site I cannot see the control panel at all. It is completely missing.
On my site the control panel is there and you can use it. Everything works fine. Only the fluid setting seems not to work.
Please compare the width of the white middle area of the site (with the search box in the upper right corner) when changing between medium and fluid size back and forth. As you can see the fluid size setting increases the width of the white middle area a bit, but only a bit. I'd expect the white area to fill the complete width of my TFT instead of having this light green border which has no use at all.
Is it possible that there is a component or module that is installed but not enabled or somehow invisible that blocks that fluid setting of using the full width of the site ? Does anybody have any hints ?

Hello
Thanks for clearing up the confusion with regard to the template version.
Have you had a look at your fluid.css file. It may be that the maximum width is limited to a pre-defined pixel width. If so you could try editing it and see if that helps.
Let me know how you get on
Costa
Edit...
The file for this template that determines the width is size.css and from examining it, it appears that the fluid width is limited to 1050px. So editing this may solve your issue.

The only *.css i was given with this template is template.css, editor.css, and IE7.css .
I have no size.css.
As I am having no trouble with any other template in full width, this template has restrictions on fluid, maybe a px limit, but why?
Shouldn't fluid be a width with % and not px.
Also i have tride to edit the css with no results. In Joomla 1.5.x there is no choice in my template editor to change from medium to fluid, as it dosen't have the control panel.
I have checked the template.css and it says fluid.
???????
This is why I have these questions.

Hi
Sorry for the confusion. This thread involves two templates and in my previous post I was mainly referring to IrenePappel's template
I had a brief look at j15-42 and I don't think this template supports a fliud/fixed option.

Costa, thank you for the hint with the SIZE.CSS. Indeed, the fluid setting is set to 1050px by default. I replaced the 1050px setting with 100% (instead of a fixed pixel width). It works perfectly now and is independent from the TFT resolution. I just wonder why the fluid setting is set to a fixed pixel width by default. That makes no sense in my eyes.
