Enabling Deflate?

Hi,

I want to enable deflate for a specific folder on my site, and I've tried doing it in .htaccess. But it just generates a 500 error. I've tried several methods I've found online, but they all produce the same 500 error.

What's the correct method for enabling deflate?

I am afraid deflate is not available on our servers and you are not able to use it.

I hope you find an alternative.
