LDAP and Mambo

One of my collegues is trying to set up contacts for all sorts of categories and with all different requirements. He's tried just about all of the components on MamboForge but still can't find one that will do the job.
I saw a release of "Holodeck" component which uses LDAP - this (LDAP) isn't something that would come with a standard package is it (I couldn't imagine that many people would ever want or need it - just trying to anticipate his questions ?

Currently, we do not support LDAP on our shared hosting accounts. However, you can get a VPS and request LDAP support
