Default How do I change the main Wiki Page ?

The first page (the discussion page) is getting long as everyone is adding text etc.

How do I create a second discussion page ?

I was thinking I could have links on the side for i.e., week 1, week 2 etc. (links where it says "Main Page, Community Portal, Current events etc.") but I do not know how to update this page.

Using ftp which page would I need to update ?

I am familiar with HTML but not with php but what is that wiki main page named in my ftp folders and is it an html page etc.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

wikiwiki

Hello,

If you are using MediaWiki for your family website you may have a look at our MediaWiki Tutorial. If the tutorial does not help, you may try to find online documentation.

you might want to check www.overclockingwiki.org... its a site I run on mediawiki and siteground. Its a pretty easy thing to administer and I don't think I've ever needed to use FTP access to it. Everything needed has been handled by the cpanel and directly from within the mediawiki software.

to edit your main page just click the edit link at the top of the page... if you want to create a new page just use the search field on the left side. Enter the exact title you want for the new page and hit go. You will then be told that the page doesn't exist and would you like to create it. Just hit the create the page link and then you can start working on your new page!

Its probably best to have a introductory page and a directory to the major sub sections of the website on your home page. If you have too much content on the front page it becomes very difficult to navigate.

if you'd like to post a link to your site I'd be happy to have a look and offer some more specific suggestions.

Smile Changing the main page

Thank you for your reply.

What I meant really was to change for i.e., the navigation links on the side etc.

Somehow I think I would need to know what is that page called and where it is located.

thanks,

PS your wiki is cooool !
