Hey there,
For lack of seeing a discussion on the basics of uploading I've decided to post my questions in a few different threads in the hope that some helpful people will inform me on uploading files. I am ready to upload images and will have some webpages ready very soon. I am to upload to the public_html folder in the cpanel File Manager. My question is: To keep organization do I name a new folder (in the public_html folder) for my webpages and images to go into? or can I have an images folder and a folder for the html pages? I am new to this so please someone help me if you don't mind. It would make sense to have two folders but I want to do this right the first time.... Also, in the File Manager there is a "upload file" that allows you to browse and insert files to upload...that seems like a simple way. I am using Frontpage for my webpages and have the frontpage extensions installed at the server. I know I can publish my pages right from Frontpage also but I need to know if I should make folders out at the server before uploading from Frontpage. I'm sure this is something very simple but since I've never done it I need to be enlightened...LOL Hope to hear from someone soon! Peace, Stephanie |

Your web pages point to your images, so the images have to be in the same place relative to your pages as they are on your computer. If you have the images and web pages in the same folder on your computer, they will all have to go into public_html on the server. public_html is where http://www.yoursite.com/ points to. Generally your web page has to be named index.{html|htm|php|asp} (whichever you are using) for it to show up automatically.
I believe the Frontpage upload wizard should take care of everything for you. |

kdsmoses,
Thanks so much for your reply...So I don't need to worry with naming a folder out at my server for images to go in? When I publish from frontpage it will upload every image and every webpage in the public_html folder and that will take care of it...Sounds easy enough! I am so ready to publish but keeping trying to finish everything before I do it...should I publish what I have to see how it is going to look and act or is my Frontpage option to see it in the browser a realistic view? If so, then I'm doing great...LOL Look forward to hearing from you again. Peace, Stephanie |
