How to install mambo

I just signed up with siteground, i moved from another host because they didn't support mambo, atleast not good enough, i was wondering if i came to the right place. Any opinions would help, and how do i install mambo? i am brand new to site ground, help??

You can install Mambo through Fantastico - the 'smiley face' icon in control panel.

On the left look for a dropdown menu that has a list of scripts. Under 'content management' look for 'mambo open source'.

I hear that Siteground also installs various scripts for free. If you would rather a pro do it - then you should ask support to install mambo for you.

Yes, Siteground support can install Mambo and many more scripts for free. All you have to do is request it.

wow thats great, now the website should go live as http://mysite.com, not http://mysite.com/mambo right??? this is the reason why i moved my site.

It depends on the folder you installed in.

In the blank for 'instalation directory' you should have put '/' to tell it to install on www.site.com.

If you wanted to install in www.site.com/mambo then you would have put /mambo in the blank.

support staff install in for me, i hope he would install it where it would go as mysite.com, i would guess i can always tell them to change it whenever right. hey, i need an advice, my plan is to install phpbb, and coppermine(photo gallery), should i install them now or later when i have my site edited make all the necessary change, what would be a better route to go?? any inputs would help, thanks in advance

You can install scripts at any time. I would just reccoment that you install phpbb and coppermine when you're ready. When I built my site, I just installed a bunch of stuff and never really got around to completing most of it.

Back when I built my site, I should have had a plan - it would have saved many hours of time.

i can always tell them to change it whenever right.

You should be able to ask them to change that at any time.

Can I know what's the difference between installing mambo into http://mysite.com and http://mysite.com/mambo?

if you install it on www.mysite.com you can surf to www.mysite.com and see mambo, (allthough i suggest joomla) if you set it up on www.mysite.com/site/ you will need to set up a redirect on the index.html page under www.mysite.com. make sense?

Thanks for the info.

Support has assisted me by giving me directions and I have already installed mambo in my root directory but I didn't put in the "\" as they told me not to. They did some "modifications" and I was able to install it in the root directory by leaving it blank.

Whatever it is, I'm glad it is installed now.

I have one question though. In the mambo website, there is a "syndicate" box which shows RSS, ATOM and OPML. Is this "box" compulsory when we have our website on Mambo? Or can we unpublish it?
