Default mambo site migration?

heyas

I have a few Site Ground accounts/sites and one doesn't get much use so i thought it might be good if i could make a subdomain on one of the accounts and then move the other site in to that sub domain and then just make the domain forward to the sub domain.

Is it possible to move a mambo site across in to another account under a sub domain? will that stuff up all the url and links to cause mambo not to work?

Also, is this something that Site Ground could do for me or should i just backup the site and upload it all to the other accounts sub domain? i'm just not too sure about backing up and moving Databases

Default quick and easy

use the bigape_backup component to back up your existing site. create the new heirarchy. install the new version of mambo,(better yet joomla) and upload your backup. the back up includes all the content including all the sql tables. make sure its all there before you delete the old ones

Default watch out using big ape

...
just tried it, but big ape has quite a few issues and no update for like a year now.

Sometimes the DB doesn't get exported properly and it doesn't give an import option at all!

Export only

cheers

Actually there is no problem to move your mambo application from one directory to another. You can find more information on here:

Hello,

Moving your application to a subdomain can be easily done. For more information on that matter, please refer to the article below:

http://kb.siteground.com/article/How...directory.html

It has been written for Joomla but as you know Mambo is quite similar. If you keep experiencing issues on that matter, please post a ticket in your Help Desk and we will happily further assist you
