thumbnail double click enlarge?

Hi, I've heard the term zoom used for pictures. I'm learning, so can anyone tell me how to get a program for thumbnail enlargements set up? I would like a products column, that when you double click, you can view the product better. I have some good programs downloaded, but I'm a little lost in confusion.
