I want to implement SEFs (search engine friendly urls) on my site (mainly to shorten and simplify the urls, not so much for the search engines).
I've checked the mambo/joomla forums, but I don't understand a word of the "explanations" of how to set this up. Has anyone done this and if so, can they translate the instructions into plain english? thanks,

OK, I sort of cracked this.
I renamed the htaccess.txt file that was in the subdirectory that contained my mambo installation and left the one in the public_html directory as htaccess.txt The main menus are working with the shortened urls, but sub items (in the component eWriting) are not. I'll get onto the eWriting developer and see if she can help.

I am using the 404SEF component. It works great:
Check these sites for the results: http://www.ringtonesandringtones.com http://www.gsmgameshop.com http://www.vandening.com Pretty basic install. Try www.joomlaos.de to find the 404 SEF component. Mark |
