I had a normal, straight forward and small joomla site at the siteground servers which got suspended. According to siteground my joomla was overloading the servers but siteground was not able to tell me what caused the overload problem.
So I would like to ask the siteground community who would know what components could be causing this because I've got several other joomla sites running and obviously do not want them to get suspended also... I only used components/modules from what I gathered to be established mambo/joomla add-on's from the forges at these sites. The only components/modules I used on the suspended site that I was not using on other sites (until now) are the gallery bridge (com_gallery2_v2[1].0.6) and infinity_menus_V1-0-8-Stable. Who is able to shed some light in this darkness here ? |

Hi,
I can't shed any light on those 2 components but there are many joomla sites using the gallery2 component, it's one of the most popular ones as the zoom gallery is so unstable & buggy. Have you tried asking on the Joomla forum or at the forge, that way you could see if any other users have had problems too. All this account suspending does quite frankly worry me a lot and I run a Joomla site too. I think it would be a good idea to start a sticky thread of suspect modules & components or ones that overload the servers so that we can avoid using them. |

Hello Ernst,
All software applications can sometimes, in given situations, behave in an undesired way. However, what situation exactly causes your application to load the server is not clear enough and requires a profound developer’s investigation that cannot be performed by SiteGround. Please note that the core Joomla application is developed by one team and the different modules can be developed by different people. This is the essence of the Open Source applications – anyone can contribute to their usefulness. However, sometimes this can result in some bugs and malfunctioning. Thus the more different modules you add to your Joomla the more risk there is that some of them will not be developed in a way to perform flawlessly with one another. As for the modules you mentioned gallery bridge (com_gallery2_v2[1].0.6) is fairly popular and we have many customers using it with their Joomla websites without experiencing any problems. The second module nfinity_menus_V1-0-8-Stable has never been reported to cause problems. However, it is not so popular among our customers, so I cannot claim that it is risk free. Also we are not aware of other Joomla website hosted on our servers, which uses exactly the two modules you are using, and before we receive at least one other similar problem, we cannot conclude that the combination of these two modules causes the problem. As for the idea to have a sticky post, where Joomla modules or combinations of modules are known to be problematic, I strongly support it. We will add it as soon as we have a proven case of malfunctioning. To have a proven case, means that we should have at least two occurrences of similar problems with different Joomla website.
