Which CM Tool?

There seems like many open source CM tools available. Does any body know or refer me to place which evaluates and compares different technologies like - Mambo/Joomla, PostNuke, phpNuke, Drupal, etc. What is the difference between them and how do we choose which one is better in certain situation. Can we use more than one tool on one web site based on our need - is integration possible. Will appreciate some response.

Basically: Mambo and Joomla are the most popular tools, used by SiteGround customers. They have the best design of all and easy administration.

Nukes are used for portal sites and for game clans and guilds. They are the first CMS tools that appeared.

I want to develop a community portal which will have following features:

• User Registration
  Classified Ads
  Events
  Calendar
  Yellow Pages
  Blog
  Forums
  RSS
  Picture Galery
  Some Static Text

Do you think any of these technologies can help develop a portal which will have all of these features. Any idea how much effort it take?

Hi,
Mambo or Joomla have components & modules for all of those things, but for user blogs I would go for Xoops as it has a much better selection - Mambo/Joomla only has one and it's not very good. Xoops also has the best range of free open source modules. Mambo/Joomla have quite a few but also quite a lot of the good ones are commercial.

The easiest thing to do to decide which cms to use is to try them out by installing them in separate directories on you site i.e one for Joomla, another for Xoops etc. You can do this easily in the Cpanel using fantastico and then you can visit the support sites and download various modules & components and try them out to see which one best fits your needs.

I think that visiting http://opensourcecms.com/ will be in great help for you to take decision. This site features much open source CM systems. It contains previews and also good descriptions of the pros and cons of every CM present there.
